Current Tablet and future purchase

Hello comrades, I have since decided to start this blog from scratch and work mostly on Technology for it. I am going to be posting a little bit about my current tablet that I am offering for sale for about $400.

The tablet is an Asus Transformer TF101 with docking station. This is $150 cheaper than what I had originally paid. Looking to get something smaller.

I must say that I am a huge fan of Android and where it is going, and hopefully Ice Cream Sandwich Android 4.0 will bring them all together as my current phone a Samsung Captivate is still running Froyo 2.2. It would be nice to even just put Gingerbread 2.3 on here as this was ATT's version of the Galaxy S. The screen is incredible though as it has an Amoled screen with bright colors and dark blacks.

Anyways about my phone, back to the Tablet. It is currently running Android 3.2.1 and runs fairly well, a little bit of stutter here and there when I wake it up after a while of being asleep. Moving from screen to screen is butter smooth though, compared to when I first bought the Transformer; the more icons I had on the screen the more lag there was with switching screens. Asus came out with an update the second week after I purchased it that fixed this and ever since has been butter smooth.

The design of this tablet is nice, but it would be nice to have as small as bezel as possible. Interesting brown/bronze color as it is different from the standard black and now popping up white colors. After a while though, I do miss a basic color as black as the brown seems somewhat unfitting for such a device. The new colors of the Transformer Prime version are nice, Champagne and Gray.

The tablet is nice as it features the power button, volume rocker, Dual Stereo speakers on the sides, microsd slot on the right side along with a mini hdmi connector to connect it to a TV. On the bottom there is the Asus Proprietary port for charging and plugging into the optional dock.

I believe that the dock adds a lot of function to change it to a netbook and with the bundled polaris office, can be wonders for typing compared to the onscreen keyboard. The dock adds 2 Full USB ports that you can plug in a flash drive, external harddrive, keyboard, or a mouse and they all work perfectly. The dock also includes a full sized SD card port that if you are a photographer like myself, then you can just unplug your SD card that you were using and put it in and go over some of your photos. With specific Android programs you can edit the photos. Looking forward to getting the new Adobe programs that have just been released.

Back to the operation system now for a last thought on my mind. I must say that they do need to work on having the software work better with the hardware. I have used my family's Ipad and it is smooth when browsing the net, switching screens, and pinching to zoom. When using my tablet, it is smooth for the home screens, but when browsing the internet, the pages take a while to load, they jump when scrolling at times, and the pinching to zoom does not always work as it should. I must say though that I would still keep this over an Ipad as I absolutely despise Itunes and that you can't setup or even use your Ipad without hooking it up to the computer for Itunes. With the Transformer, I turned it on, which takes way longer than it should, and then connected to the network in a blazing 2 to 3 seconds after putting in the password. Logged in and began browsing the Android Market and websites in less than 5 minutes.

All in all, I am sad to be selling the Transformer, but I need something smaller as I don't want to carry around a laptop replacement with me, I would rather have the Asus Memo when it is released, but first I believe I will tryout the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. The 7.7 looks good, has a better resolution, but looking at reviews of it, just seems a little larger than what I am looking for. I give the Asus Tranformer 16Gb Wifi Tablet a solid 4 stars out of 5.
